Ina Akamatsu Pine is rich in rosin; thus, it has long been used as firewood, torches, etc. During the carbonization of Ina Akamatsu Pine, a large amount of rosin will be removed, thus only 200kg(approximately 3%)of charcoal can be obtained from 6000kg of logs. It is characterized by superb oil absorption since the remaining part functions like sponge.

To examine the oil absorptivity of Ina Akamatsu Pine microporous charcoal, we have conducted absorption test using“Ina Akamatsu Pine microporous charcoal”and“edible oil”. The results showed that“Ina Akamatsu Pine Microporous Charcoal”had strong absorptivity for“edible oil”.
